About Me

I teach educators, guides, museum/heritage professionals and creatives a variety of easy-to-learn, flexible techniques and skills and give them the tools to create visitor-centred experiences that bring art and ideas to life.

Over the past 10 years, I have developed โ€˜Visible Thinking in the Museumโ€˜ โ€“ a method that uses thinking routines (from Visible Thinking) along with facilitation techniques and museum education practices. The result is โ€˜inquiry made simpleโ€™. A easy-to-follow process that allows you to confidently create, lead and manage engaging and interactive programmes with your collections.

In 2020, I developed โ€˜Visible Thinking in the Museum Online (VTMO)โ€™ an 8 module online program teaching participants to use my โ€˜Visible Thinking in the Museumโ€™ method. VTMO is now the flagship course of the Visible Thinking Membership.

Since starting Thinking Museum, I have seen how engagement and learning are positioned at the heart of what museums and cultural organizations do. Iโ€™ve also seen how creating real engagement with artworks, objects, or with audiences, can be difficult for even the most experienced of professionals

I use my experience to approach training in a different way. I help you to excel at engaging audiences โ€“ to find your own way of working, drawing on a โ€˜toolboxโ€™ of educational practices, techniques, and skills that you can use in your own individual way. This Conference Code of Conduct shares our community expectations and applies to all attendees, employees, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and other participants at Arival- produced and sponsored events. Arival reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any party from any event or community space at any time when participation or behavior create a disruption or hinder the event or enjoyment of the event by other participants. All determinations are at the sole discretion of Arival, and the decision of the Arival team will be final. Severe breaches of this Conference Code of Conduct may result in disqualification from participating in future events. Individuals expelled due to violating this Conference Code of Conduct will not be eligible for a refund or other consolation.
